๐ŸŽ“ Vertical ยท Education & LMS Retention

The LMS already knows.
The student is
slipping right now.

Every Learning Management System on Earth โ€” Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, Moodle, Schoology โ€” sits on real-time student-performance data and does nothing proactive with it. A Temporal-Awareness agent closes that gap with on-time, on-channel, audit-bearing intervention.

The problem

The dashboard is not the intervention

The signal exists. The action does not.

The LMS knows a student missed three submissions in a row. It knows their quiz scores are trending down. It knows they have not logged in for nine days. None of this triggers a check-in. The dashboard waits for an instructor to come looking. By the time anyone notices, recovery is hard.

Tuition revenue walks out the door

Retention is the single largest revenue lever in post-secondary education and the single largest outcome lever in K-12. Every undetected slip is a retention loss measured in semesters of tuition or graduation years.

No record of attention

When a parent, a department chair, or a regulator asks "what did you do when you saw the warning signs?" โ€” the answer is usually "the data was on the dashboard." That is no longer an acceptable answer.

"Sees the slip. Reaches the student. Logs every attempt. Hands off to the human when the chain calls for it."

A deterministic agent that subscribes to LMS performance feeds, runs continuous temporal awareness over student engagement signals, and initiates proactive, deterministically-scripted outreach. Reaches the student on the channel the student uses. Escalates to instructor, advisor, parent, or department head when the situation calls for it. Every interaction lands in an append-only audit chain.

Continuous signal monitoring

Submissions, quiz scores, login frequency, time-on-task. State persists. Time is a first-class variable.

On-channel outreach

The student is reached where they live โ€” SMS, Telegram, email, whatever the policy specifies. The channel is a deterministic slot, never confabulated.

Graduated escalation

Student โ†’ instructor โ†’ advisor โ†’ department head โ†’ parent (where policy permits). Each rung deterministic, each silence escalated.

Append-only attention log

Hash-chained record of every signal seen, every outreach attempted, every receipt confirmed. Producible on demand.

Why deterministic matters here

An education AI that confabulates a deadline, sends a check-in to the wrong student, or fails silently when it should escalate is worse than no AI at all โ€” it gives the institution a false sense of coverage. The Gemini cascade documented on 7 June 2026 is what that failure mode looks like in production. Deterministic Temporal-Awareness architecturally cannot fail this way. That is the whole point.

The science

The architecture is patent-protected

The deterministic state-machine substrate, the channel-respecting orchestration layer, the distributed-trust escalation chain, and the append-only audit log are all anchored in CIPO CA 3,310,722 and the wider KB-2026-006-XX patent family. The benchmark data (Carnegie Mellon / UNC / Pittsburgh measured 48.2% LLM temporal accuracy vs human 98.2%) is documented in the Time-Blindness treatise series. The applicability to neurodivergent learners โ€” where temporal scaffolding is the single highest-leverage support โ€” is part of the family's prosecution record.

How to acquire a standalone unit

Bring this onto your campus โ€” sealed, on-premise, your students' data, your keys.

For education environments โ€” districts, post-secondary institutions, charter networks, special-needs programs โ€” the relevant deployment is the sealed appliance: dedicated hardware on your campus, running the TA agent, holding student data under your keys, supporting consent-gated maintenance with a tamper-evident audit chain. FERPA-aligned by architecture. No model training on student data. No cloud round-trip. No access on our part without an explicit window opened by your IT.

  1. Scoping engagement A meeting with your IT, registrar / SIS lead, privacy officer, and the program lead for the use-case (retention, special-needs, advising). We map seat count, data-sensitivity tier, and LMS integration points. Output: a written deployment proposal.
  2. Privacy and security review Pre-filled DPIA appropriate to your jurisdiction (FERPA, PIPEDA, GDPR), architecture diagram, audit-chain specification, and a redacted sample maintenance log so your reviewers see what they will see.
  3. MSA + DPA + pilot Master Services Agreement, Data Processing Addendum, and a small pilot deployed for one department or one cohort for 30โ€“60 days before broader rollout.
  4. Fleet provisioning Each unit sealed; central audit visibility rolls up to an endpoint you operate; student data stays sealed on the unit.
  5. Ongoing operation Updates queue in your tenant. Your IT lead approves the wave. Maintenance windows open only with explicit consent. Every action lands in the audit chain.

The full sealed-appliance model โ€” including the consent-gated maintenance flow and the four structural privacy guarantees โ€” is documented at /sealed-appliance/.
